Feed Mill Memories

Many of you don't know but in the early 1990s I worked as a Livestock Production Specialist for Greenwood Co-op as a Farmland nutritional and animal science sales rep.

I was sent these photos and it was a reminder of days gone by. The feed mill delivered swine and cattle feed from north of Ashland south to Dunbar.

These photos reminded me of all the livestock producers I called on for many years and the relationships that still exist today. It is because of my job at the co-op that I moved to the area.
Three EM FCCLA students attended National Leadership Conference in Denver on July 2-7.
Dakota Glasshoff, Harrison Koehn and Charles Cawley joined more than 7,900 students, educators, and guests from across the nation to expand their leadership skills, sharpen their talents, explore career pathways, and listen to inspiring speakers. Cindy Backemeyer and Karey Koehn attended with the students.

Dakota Glasshoff and Harrison Koehn were among the 4,300 FCCLA members participating in STAR Events competitions.
With more than 30 events to choose from, participants have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and abilities by actively addressing important issues concerning families, careers, or communities. Dakota Glasshoff and Harrison Koehn proudly represented Elmwood-Murdock School in the STAR Events competitions and were very successful.
Dakota Glasshoff earned a gold medal and placed 11th in the event National Programs in Action (Level 2). Harrison Koehn was a Top 10 finalist, finishing 9th at the national awards in the event Say Yes to FCS (Level 2).
During their visit to Denver, the students also found time to visit Elitch Gardens, gather with other Nebraska attendees, and serve as competition volunteers.
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a student-led nation-based organization supporting youth on their journey to become the leaders of tomorrow and helping them address important personal, family, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education. FCCLA has over 237,000 members and more than 5,100 chapters across the nation. Elmwood-Murdock students in grades 7-12 are invited to participate in FCCLA and contact Mrs. Hynes for more information.
