In the past week, people have volunteered to shop for those who need to stay at home due to age or are immune suppressed. Many restaurant businesses are adapting and changing their business model to deliver or offer curbside service. In response, customers are going out of their way to support their efforts. In fact, last Friday The Quonset was sold out of the Fish Special when I called.
After this, when the travel restrictions are lifted we will that more grateful every time we eat at a local restaurant, attend communion

Uncovered Murdock History
Thank you to John Guehlstorff for the Murdock historical and lifestyle photographs.
This must of been quite the sight when this Bi-plane landed in Grandpas field. Does anyone remember when this happened and the story behind it?
John's Grandpa (Ed) was an avid photographer. He would take photos of any event that went on around Murdock. From family reunions to everyday happenings. When he passed his grandson (John E Guelstorff III) inherited his camera along with his photo processing equipment and all of his negatives. Recently he found some undeveloped negatives of Murdock
Stay tuned in future weeks for more peeks into Murdock history

You may have forgotten about the Elmwood Take-it-or-Leave food pantry, but it is even more important than ever. Many in our community are going to have children at home who have depended on school lunches and the BackPack program for weekend supplemental nutrition.
The free pantry is here to serve our community. It is for neighbors helping neighbors.

Simple Numbers:
1 in 5 Nebraska people that receive their Coronavirus Check next week is fortunate enough to not have any real pressing need. Many of these people want and would help small businesses, but there is no obvious (and non offensive) to invest and support. There is a better that 3 times benefit to the Community, for every dollar invested in the Survival of the Small Business Community. Small Business Owners, with shuttered Doors need cash now - to retain critical employees, pay rent and cling to their customers. With that in Mind: We Launched CassLocal.com We need all Small Cass, Sarpy and Otoe Businesses to add their information here We really Encourage all small businesses to get a Square acct - so the can offer Gift Cards ( Video ) and/or a PayPal Donate Acct Gift Cards may seem unusual for a small mechanic or plumbing firm, but the idea is simple: Critical Cash injection now, wonderful goods and services later.
Any Business, with a Square, or PayPal acct - can offer it in their CassLocal.com listing and the navigation of the site will change as the numbers, and kinds of businesses develop.
Bottom Line, is we need Businesses to Join Here - and Churches / Non Profit Organizations Here
Nebraska helping Nebraska - we do not have to wait for the Federal Government, lets just Get"R" Done!

Due to the health alerts and the changes in our day-to-day living right now and the restrictions the city of Omaha has placed on how many people can gather at one time we have changed the April 1 JOB FAIR to be a drive-thru job fair instead of a face-to-face hiring event.
We will be having a DRIVE-THRU job fair from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Comfort Inn & Suites at 7007 Grover Street in Omaha.
Simply drive-thru the designated area in the parking lot at the Comfort Inn & Suites at 70th & Grover and you will receive a bag full of job opportunities.
The employers will provide their flyers, applications, brochures, etc. and all the information will be in the bags. You can then go home and go through all of the material and apply with the instructions each employer has provided.
Employers are still hiring and they need you now even more than ever.
Remember you can still find great jobs:
www.jobfairsNebraska.com JOBS board. Click on the JOBS tab and see all the employers who have jobs posted on the site. Click on the company you are interested in and you will be directed right to their open job postings. Now, you can even click on their logo and be directed right to that company's website. Fast, easy and great jobs!
EBLAST. We send out monthly emails to every registered job seeker about upcoming job fairs in the community. And from time to time employers will provide us information to send out by email to all of the registered job seekers about their open positions. Go to www.jobfairsNebraska.com and click on job seeker information and submit your email so you can be added to our database now.
