New Feature - Uncovered Murdock History

I am so excited to start this new series! Thanks to John Guehlstorff who sent me an email with the treasure he found.

His father, John Guehlstorff (TV John as he was known around the Murdock, Louisville, and Plattsmouth areas) was raised on the family farm located NE of Murdock. Two miles east and one mile north at 334th Street and Mill Rd. His parents were Ed and Lena Guehlstorff. Dad had two brothers (Twins Elmer and Delmer) and his sister Ruth (Meiers). They farmed there for several decades. He thinks they sold the farm in 1968 and moved to Plattsmouth where they grew up with his three sisters and parents.

Grandpa (Ed) was born in 1888 and got to see a lot of technical advances and history. He was an avid photographer. He would take photos of any event that went on around Murdock. From family reunions to everyday happenings. When he passed his grandson (John E Guelstorff III) inherited his camera along with his photo processing equipment and all of his negatives.  Recently he found some undeveloped negatives of Murdock

Here is his Grandpa Ed (Guelstorff) and his favorite hog. It’s a self-portrait taken early last century.

Stay tuned in future weeks for more peeks into Murdock history
