Welcome to Murdock
I do really love this sign that welcomes people to Murdock. This year it is going to take front and center as the seasons change. The dusting of snow gives it a special beauty that only winter can bring.
Don't forget to stop by the school this Friday for soup, chili and cinnamon rolls. Take in an Elmwood-Murdock high school basketball game at the same time.

There is a wealth of information on the new Elmwood-Murdock website. It is updated on a daily basis by various teachers and department heads.
The Area Landscape Changes
For those that know me I'm an avid photographer. I will randomly stop to take photos of combines, horses, cattle, a random cornfield and whatever might strike my fancy.
My favorite subject is barns though.
My favorite barn/corn crib is (was) located between Murdock and Elmwood on the west side of Highway 1 two miles north of Elmwood.
It has been my favorite photography subject for many years. I can't tell you how many times I've admired a sunset behind the barn or storm clouds as they roll across the horizon.
I have stopped before prom to take a photo because it was so pretty.
It is now being dismantled piece by piece and will disappear from the landscape. It makes me sad ad it has been a landmark for so many years.
At least the wood is being repurposed and recycled and the old girl will continue to live on to have another purpose

Work on N-63 Alvo North Realignment
March 15, 2018 (Lincoln, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work is scheduled to continue the week of March 19 on N-63, between Alvo and I-80, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Knife River, LLC of Sioux City, Iowa has the $11,758,926 contract. Work will include realignment of N‑63, culverts and box culverts, and wetland mitigation. This will be the second of two phases of work.
During this phase, N-63 will be closed to traffic from Reference Post 4+20 (Alvo) to Reference Post 9+68 (Church Road). A marked detour will be in place along I-80 to N-66 to N-50 to US-34 for southbound traffic and along US-34 to N-50 to N-66 to I-80 for northbound traffic.
This portion of the project is anticipated to be completed in ________________ who knows, November is past and the highway is far from being complete.
The Department’s project manager is Jesse De Los Santos of Lincoln. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously through work zones and along detours.
