Election Day

Did you Vote? Your vote matters, locally and nationally. Many people in other countries don't even have an opportunity to vote and elect the people who run and manage their government.
Here in Elmwood, Nebraska and the United States, we have that privilege as citizens to choose our leaders. The leaders on our town boards that decide how to use tax money to improve our streets and keep our water safe.
We have options to run as a write-in candidate for either Village Boards or School Boards. Regardless of which party you represent it is our responsibility to vote. If you don't, then you don't have the right to complain. Hope you got out and voted this week.
Next week I will post the results to our community that matter and photos from the Election watch party at the Quonset.

Don't miss the Elmwood Murdock One -Act version of the play Godspell

I was lucky enough to attend a dress rehearsal last week and the talent we have is unprecedented. Many people may remember this play from the 1970's may have probably performed in the play.

The musical is structured as a series of parables, primarily based on the Gospel of Matthew. However, four of the featured parables are only recorded in the Gospel of Luke, and the narrative of the woman taken in adultery is only in the Gospel of John. The parables are interspersed with music set primarily to lyrics from traditional hymns, with the passion of Christ appearing briefly near the end of the show.

Church Bell History and Repair
It is easy to take for granted the sound of the church bell at the beginning of service. It has always been there. Someone is always at the ready to pull on the rope and receive a glorious sound in return.

However, lately pulling on the rope has not been easy, nor as effective. Something was wrong. Church bell experts were brought in to inspect and advise.
This is the first time many, if not most of us have even seen what the bell actually looks like up close. So here are some very interesting photos and diagrams of how a bell actually works and the history.

The Trinity Lutheran Murdock church bell was donated by the women of Trinity Lutheran and installed in 1906.
The bell weighs 1,200 pounds and was cast at the Stuckstede Bell Foundry our of St. Louis.
Over the years age and weather have taken its toll on the bell, the bearings, the bell deck, and the wooden bell wheel. As you can see in the photo below a spoke of the bell wheel is actually broke.

Trinity Lutheran Church loves the sound of the church bell that starts service each Sunday and will be fundraising to repair and restore the bell so it can be enjoyed for many more generations.

A display with more information and photos is located in the church fellowship hall.
This week the theme was "What do you want to leave (LEAF) to Jesus?" What leaves you fearful, worried, and angry. How can you let go, and leave it to God?
Next week I will post our bulletin board of "Leaves"
