BMX ATV Rally Cruise Poker Run
If you were in town early Saturday afternoon you couldn't help but here a herd/pack/group/convoy of ATV and UTVs coming through town.
It was the 2nd ATV/UTV gravel Cruise Poker Run in conjunction with Eagle Raceway.
They made multiple stops, that started at the Eagle Racetrack, ran through Elmwood and Murdock where they stopped at Bulldogs, then Manley and back to Eagle.
After the participants went to Eagle Hallow Haunts and camped in the parking area Friday and Saturday night, Will be a great time plan to be there tell your friends!!

As with all of their events a portion of the proceeds will go towards a charitable cause this event we will donate towards the Austin Fritz Memorial Scholarship fund. I also met up with the group in Murdock and found out there were about 160 ATVs participating.
Murdock Scarecrow Fall Display
What perfect timing to have all the scarecrows out on display. Over 160 vehicles and probably over 200 people stopped at Bulldogs, enjoyed the afternoon and Murdock was on display.

I so enjoyed spending time in town taking pictures of all the wonderful scarecrows. Thanks to the Murdock Improvement team, especially Jackie Barnes who did a lot of the artistic work on the faces.

They are so MUCH FUN!!
Other towns become known for their duck races, but Murdock has two events we can be proud. The 4th of July parade and the Scarecrow Festival.

Here is hoping even more people in Murdock embrace this and decorate their front doors and yards with scarecrows.

Speaking of which next week I'm going to highlight the wonderful fall front porches in Murdock.
I always loved taking my kids trick or treating in Murdock. Even 20 years ago people really got into the spirit of Halloween in town.

Thank-you to all the volunteers and the Murdock Improvement Team for making this possible!!
Film Crew on Set at the Local AirBnB
A group of students from The University of Nebraska film school took over the grounds of the "Country Home" AirBnB on Saturday afternoon to film their movie project 1995. It is about a friendship between an older lady and a young woman who is making a movie.
I stopped by and took some time to watch the filming in action. Pretty boring actually. A lot of people standing around waiting, and waiting. Finally, "Quiet on the Set" was announced...."Action"

Then about 30 seconds of filming. "Cut" That was in during the 30 minutes I stood there.
So movie magic takes a LOT longer in real life. If I learn more about the film, I will let you know. I believe it's a short film for a school project. Preproduction started in the spring. It may even be entered into a contest.

Church Bell History and Repair
It is easy to take for granted the sound of the church bell at the beginning of service. It has always been there. Someone is always at the ready to pull on the rope and receive a glorious sound in return.

However, lately pulling on the rope has not been easy, nor as effective. Something was wrong. Church bell experts were brought in to inspect and advise.
This is the first time many, if not most of us have even seen what the bell actually looks like up close. So here are some very interesting photos and diagrams of how a bell actually works and the history.

The Trinity Lutheran Murdock church bell was donated by the women of Trinity Lutheran and installed in 1906.
The bell weighs 1,200 pounds and was cast at the Stuckstede Bell Foundry our of St. Louis.
Over the years age and weather have taken its toll on the bell, the bearings, the bell deck, and the wooden bell wheel. As you can see in the photo below a spoke of the bell wheel is actually broke.

Trinity Luthern Church loves the sound of the church bell that starts service each Sunday and will be fundraising to repair and restore the bell so it can be enjoyed for many more generations.

A display with more information and photos is located in the church fellowship hall.
This week the theme was "What do you want to leave (LEAF) to Jesus?" What leaves you fearful, worried, and angry. How can you let go, and leave it to God?
Next week I will post our bulletin board of "Leaves"
Please feel free to join us every Sunday
