On Sunday Pastor Charles Ferry and his family visited with the congregation at Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Charles and Cheryl Ferry serve on behalf of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS) throughout Asia and recently moved from Indonesia to Taiwan.

He spoke and showed photos of his missionary work during Adult Bible study, gave the sermon during service.

An ice cream social was hosted after church to visit and learn more about Ferry family and what living like in Asia is really like.

I spoke with their oldest son, Caleb, and learned a lot from him. The move from Indonesia was a surprise, but a good move. Indonesia is a 3rd World country and Taiwan is a 2nd World country. Which means the Ferry family no longer needs 24/7 guards.

According to Caleb, Indonesia is a Muslim country and missionaries are NOT allowed into the country. So his Dad could not discuss missionary work. Indonesia is ok with Christian Pastors and churches, but you cannot approach anyone to come to your church.

Christians are still persecuted and discriminated against when it comes to jobs and getting a loan. When an application is completed if the business sees your checkbox selected as Christian they will no longer get the loan or the job.

Caleb has spent one-quarter of his life living internationally and he was quick to point out living with five sisters can be challenging, but being the oldest has its advantage.

Trinity Lutheran Church supports Rev. Ferry's missionary work in Asia and Pastor Kuhlman has traveled to Indonesia to teach to Lutheran Pastors.

If you would like to support this important work please visit the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod website.

Darin Platts wife Lauren has been battling illness for a long time now. Several months ago she was FINALLY diagnosed with Chronic Lyme Disease after years of hospital stays, treatments, specialists, and emergency room visits.

Currently, shes lost half of her vision and use a walker. She has almost lost her life once already resulting in a lengthy hospital stay. They are aiming to send her to the Hansa Center in Wichita, KS for alternative treatment.

The only problem is that the 3 wk program is very expensive and with all of the other medical bills, medication, and trips out state for Lyme literate doctors, they are unable to send her at this time.

As a mother of a young son and wife to a husband, she fights for her life every day for her family.

There will be a free will donation for pulled pork sandwiches, beans and a bag of chips.

Also, a silent auction will also take place with karaoke following. Here is a sneak peek at just a few of the silent auction items. Think Christmas everyone, it's NOT too early and it goes to a good cause.

If your able to make it all proceeds will go directly to Darin and Lauren to help out with all of the medical expenses they will incur through this tough time. Let's all show our support for a great friend and family.
