Elmwood Murdock Football

Elmwood-Murdock Football

The Yutan Chieftains defeated the Elmwood-Murdock Knights 44-19 Friday night in Yutan.

Senior I-Back, Bryland Meniccucci rushed for 274 yards on 21 carries and 4 touchdowns to lead the Chieftains. I thought we played a good 1st Half. Yutan scored in the 1st quarter on a 19 play drive to start the game. We wanted to make them earn everything and nearly came away with a stop on 4th down. Hendricks hit Perchal on a 9-yard pass. We were in good position on the play. They made a good throw and catch.

EM took the next possession and capped a 10 play drive with an Austin Meisinger 19 yard run. Although down 14 – 6, I thought we played some good football the 1st half. For the third straight week, the Knights had an error in the kicking game that proved costly in the 3rd quarter. We work a lot on special teams during the week and to not carry over what we practice is disappointing. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. We have to find a way to eliminate mental mistakes.

After the muffed punt in the 3rd quarter, things seemed to snowball on us. Yutan scored 23 points in the 3rd quarter and took control of the game.

We have to work on consistency and taking care of the ball. Austin Meisinger played well scoring 3 touchdowns and intercepting Yutan twice returning one for a 71 yard TD. The Knights host Malcolm in another District Contest next Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
