Halloween is Coming!

It's officially fall! How do I know? The neighbors aren't cleaning their cobwebs anymore. AND I put a pumpkin near the front door.

So what are you doing this Halloween?

Are you taking kids trick or treating, decorating your house, creating a haunted house for the little kids coming by to snag candy. Or maybe your're getting dressed up yourself. Send me photos and I'll put them in the newsletter the week after Halloween.

Maybe your business is decorating the windows in town and getting in the holiday spirit. What ever it is, send it my way.

NEEDED: Photos and stories of local veterans

Your help is not only greatly appreciated but NEEDED. Please send any articles, updates, photos etc to me by Sunday at 4PM via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Do you love to sing? Would you like to be part of a local choir?

It doesn’t have to be a special occasion. We actually feel each time we sing together is a time of blessing.

Not only are we blessed with wonderfully gifted and giving musicians and a  irector, but we have fun with one another. We care for and nurture each other.

Each week is another ‘revival’ of our hearts in the joy that comes from experiencing the love of Jesus among us.

We would be thrilled to have you come.

Still not sure? Talk with any choir member to carpool!

We meet on Wednesdays here at our church, and drive to Elmwood together.

Murdock Ebenezer United Methodist Church, a merger of 3 congregations, has loved and taught the love of God over 140 years.

Join us for worship on Sundays at 9:30 am.

We are a congregation of seekers and followers of Jesus Christ. We are young families, older families, empty nesters, and great singers and musicians.

Halloween and Fall Decorations

MurdockScarecrowSm

I LOVE THE SCARECROWS!!!

Seriously! What fun it is to drive through town and see the decorations and creative ideas.

Thank you Linda Glantz and everyone else. but I'm not sure who, but maybe a little bird will tell me.

I will be highlighting a Scarecrow every week as longer as they continue to grace Murdock.

If I remember they were then replaced by Christmas trees. I can't wait!!!

Anyone want to claim this rad cool Woodstock Scarecrow?

I hear Dale Vanderford has a skeleton that likes to ride on tractors and sit in the hot-tub.

If anyone can snag a photo of the hot tub skeleton I might even through in a special prize your way?

What prize? I have no idea, it depends on the super radical photo I get.

We are in the middle of harvest and just a reminder

Be careful of combines and tractors on the road!

As harvest winds up the end in the next few weeks farmers will be pushing hard and working at night to get done. The local area has had some tragic accidents over the years so let's not have it happen again.

Drive carefully over hills, give the large equipment space, don't be in a hurry, and WAVE when you do pass.

Elmwood-Murdock Elementary School

This year the annual craft show will be to benefit the Elmwood-Murdock packpack program.

The Backpack program is a statewide program that was started by the Food Bank in Lincoln.

The mission is to help alleviate child hunger in our community by providing hungry children with nutritious and easy to prepare food at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations.

Elmwood G.A.R. Hall Veterans Museum

IMG 7358 303If you haven't visited the Veterans Museum in Elmwood, now it the time. You will be very impressed with what Bonnie Brewer has done. Her passion for our veterans, Elmwood history and genealogy really shine.

The G.A.R. Hall may look small from the outside, but I guarantee you will see something new every time you visit.

The museum will be open on Sunday Oct 30th from noon-4pm so make sure to visit and say hello.

You can literally spend hours reading through the historical documents and memorabilia.

There is a series of local activities honoring our veterans between October 30th and November 13th. Be sure to put them on your calendar so you won't miss them.

Both the high school and elementary have a veterans program on Friday November 11 and are OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. I try and go every year and am never disappointed.
