The Veterans Day program at the Elmwood Murdock High School did not disappoint. The band and choir performed patriotic songs and students read poems and essays thanking veterans for their service.

The kids performed a flag folding presentation.

Kevin Hynes, better known as Patrick, Thomas, Michael, and Erin's dad, introduced the key note speaker, Command Chief Warrant Officer, Teresa A. Domeier with the Nebraska Army National Guard.

Domeier spoke about how we all have choices but more importantly we need to think about the consequences of our choices. She brought some special rewards for the students who earned them. She had a jacket that she wore when she was deployed...well, it was hot so she didn't really wear it much. She asked the audience to come down if they were interested in the jacket. Some kids came down and then were told they had to do push ups to earn it. Not girl push ups either!

One by one they dropped out until only Cody Fries and Miguel Rikli were left. Finally, after even we were tired of push ups only Cody was left. But Teresa had a surprise for both. Cody got the jacket and Miguel got a bag. So they were both rewarded!

Reverse the Trend is a motivational and anti-bullying movement that is sweeping the country. Students, staff and parents rave about the program that went to 264 schools in 33 states last year, exclaiming: it inspired students, decreased bullying and even saved some lives.
