Volunteers needed for the Elmwood stop of the Market to Market Relay Race!  From the Market to Market website: "A premier day-long team running relay race that takes runners from Market to Market®. Starting at sun up, seven runners and a van take on diverse and scenic courses as they make their way to the downtown finish shindig before sun down. Combine running in beautiful landscapes, outrageous costumes and memorable van rides with your friends and it all adds up to 1 unforgettable day."

Elmwood is one of the places that is an exchange site for the relay.  There will be a lot transport vans dropping off and picking up runners so the team needs to have volunteers in Elmwood to direct traffic to keep it flowing smooth and keep the runners safe.  By providing volunteers we will earn a donation from the Market to Market Relay Series for the Elmwood Park!

Ben

Dear Family and Friends,
Thank you for your past support of Ben's Brigade!
It is time again for our annual fundraising efforts.  We had planned to give everyone a choice this year to donate to the DSAF of Nebraska, or the LuMind Foundation for Down Syndrome Cognitive Research.  However, when the DSAF learned of our plan to let donors choose, they have since decided all teams must fund raise exclusively for the DSAF, and deleted our team, Ben's Brigade, from the Step Up for Down syndrome Walk.

So, while we will not be participating in the Lincoln Walk this year, we still do want to raise money for a good cause and celebrate Down syndrome awareness month during the month of October.  For this reason we are proud to announce that we would like all of our fundraising efforts to go the LuMind Foundation for Down Syndrome Research.  This is an extremely exciting time for Down Syndrome Research, as studies have found similarities between individuals with Down syndrome and patients with Alzheimer's There are now Phase 2 clinical drug trials, moving us closer to options for improving cognition in people with Down syndrome, and these drugs also have the potential to prevent Alzheimer's disease in the general population.   If you would like to donate to the LuMind foundation in honor of Ben's Brigade, please click here

Our annual celebration would not be complete without custom Ben's Brigade t-shirts.  This year we have designed our own shirts that will be white with the logo attached below featuring the Down syndrome awareness colors of blue and yellow. These shirts will not be dated and can be worn year after year to celebrate Ben and his extra chromosome.  Adult sizes are $12 and Child sizes are $10.  If you would like to order t-shirt, please email me with your size prior to September 15, 2015 .  Payment can be collected on delivery, or you can order them online at the new Ben's Brigade website Ben's Brigade for Down Sydrome Advocacy

We ask that everyone wear their shirt on Saturday October 3rd to virtually celebrate the start of Down syndrome awareness month where ever you are that day.

As always, we appreciate your support of Ben's Brigade!
