JOB OPENING:
SALARY: $16.24/Hour
JOB TYPE: PERM FULL TIME
LOCATION: Lincoln, NE
JOB DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, develops and implements public information functions or activities for the Nebraska Tourism Commission to inform the public, governmental/program officials, and/or State employees of needs and issues and/or of the objectives, policies, and programs of the agency.
EXAMPLES OF WORK: This position will assist the Nebraska Tourism Commission in conducting in-house research projects, gathering information and data from industry stakeholders and preparing materials for specials events under the supervision of the Marketing Manager. This position will also have a heavy social media component acting as the Commission's social media specialist. In-depth knowledge of social media platforms, data, delivery to multiple and diverse audiences along with data capturing and research will consume a high percentage of the position's time. Applicant must excel in creative writing skills and enjoy researching Nebraska destinations for story content and apply all writing capabilities involving social media, blogging and tourism promotional publications. Applicant will utilize video equipment for content development, marketing and public relations projects as they relate to the Commission and tourism statewide. Some travel required.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: Vocational/Technical Diploma or Associate Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or related field AND one year experience in planning and conducting public relations/information activities. Experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of: The principle and practices of journalism; the principle and practices of public relations; the techniques of layout design; the principle and practices of visual reproduction such as photography, graphic, or printing; the English language including spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, word usage and grammar, statewide and local media sources and operations including appropriate contact persons, possible costs, and publication/broadcast deadlines; reference sources including agency reference material and external sources. Ability to communicate effectively in individual or group settings with new media representatives, governmental or program officials, agency staff, and the public, at levels understandable to each audience, access the impact and effectiveness of specific public information materials or activities in meeting the interests of the public or media and the needs of the agency.

She provides networking facilitation between businesses, resources and government to provide tourism advancement while promoting innovation within the Nebraska tourism industry. Lisa has an associate's degree from Southeast Community College and a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She has also earned a Heartland Economic Development degree and is certified as an Accredited Business Planning Advisor.
