Shakespeare's 450th birthday was well celebrated in Elmwood on Saturday, April 26th on the streets near the library. The event drew many people to help celebrate the occasion. Some of the popular sights included: juggling performances, battle demonstrations, rug & yarn making, mask painting, Shakespearian time photographs, sonnet readings, scene reenactments and samples of food all provided by the Nebraska Shakespeare Festival. There were also performances given by Lincoln High School students who are also members of the Nebraska Shakespeare Company. Other attractions for the children included games, balloon-making, puppet shows, a petting zoo and various Shakespeare-related activities. Other various vendors lined the streets with foods and other items to sell. The event was concluded with cutting the birthday cake for William Shakespeare.

The following article was written as a school project by sophomore Christopher Beebee. He asked if he could have it published in the newsletter and since it had some really good tips that we can all use I told him yes. Hope you enjoy it!
