The Elmwood Extravaganza, sponsored by the Elmwood Murdock Merchants Association, brought a lot of people into Elmwood last weekend. The day started with pancakes at the firehall. The Boy Scouts helped the firemen out with serving and bussing tables.
Santa Claus stopped by to hear the wishes of all the kids. Rosie Offner shared a laugh with Santa and then posed with her sister and brother, Faith and Levi. Luke Ferguson, grandson of Ron and Kim Griffin, wasn't quite sure what to think of Santa.
Brandy Rima, of BB's, specializes in awesome balloons. She made some amazing balloons scultpures for the kids...swords, butterflies, candy canes, Ariel the mermaid, kitties, and a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle!
Cindy Hovorka and Kris Shrader hosted the Candy Cane Lane event at the old bank building...soon to be home of BurrowsTracts Real Estate! EMMA merchants decorated Christmas trees for all to see and there were Christmas cookies and candies for sale. The proceeds go towards the local backpack program.
The SOS parents hosted the Turkey Trot down the bike trail. It was such a beautiful day for a run in the country. There were a lot of kids participating along with their parents. It was a good way to get out and work off all the Thanksgiving goodies!
The Starry Knight Parade started with the Boy Scouts followed by the three Grand Marshalls, Eula McLaughin Swartz, Sylvia Stubbendeck, and Lucile Laughlin. Each lady is 95 years old and throughout their lives they contributed greatly to Elmwood. Each had various businesses in town. It was a great thing to honor these ladies and awesome of them to brave the cold to ride in the parade.
