Megan Bober

Creighton's Megan Bober has been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Volleyball Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Bober is the second player in Creighton Volleyball history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, joining third-team pick Emily Greisch in 2006. Bober also becomes the 29th student-athlete in Creighton history to earn Academic All-America honors in any sport.

A senior from Murdock, Neb., Bober was named MVC Player of the Year after averaging 9.69 assists, 2.99 digs, 1.93 kills and 1.00 blocks per set. She owned six triple-doubles and set a school-record with 24 double-doubles on the fall. Bober is the nation's only player to average at least 9.6 assists, 2.9 digs and 1.00 blocks per set this season, and she wrapped up her career ranked first in matches played (128), matches started (128), consecutive matches started (128) and sets played (480), second in assists (4,359) and block assists (380), fourth in total blocks (422), fifth in assists per set (9.08), sixth in aces (86), seventh in hitting percentage (.260) and points (1151.0) and eighth in digs (1,123) and block solos (42). Bober is the only player in program history twice named honorable-mention All-American and is also one of three players in program history to earn three First Team All-MVC honors.

Creighton wrapped up its best season in program history on December 1st, finishing 29-4. The Bluejays won their first MVC regular-season and tournament titles in program history, while also earning its first national ranking in program history.

Bober is one of two MVC student-athletes honored, as Southern Illinois senior Bailey Yeager was a third-team selection. The six-woman first team included Nebraska's Gina Mancuso and Academic All-American of the Year Ariel Turner of Purdue. (from the Creighton Jays website
