Hello, Murdock! Guess who’s writing the newsletter again? Yes, I’m back! For those of you who may be new to the Murdock Newsletter I better introduce myself. I’m Millie’s mom, Julie. I was the editor before Millie took over last year. Millie is a senior and getting ready to graduate. She will be enjoying her last few months of high school and her last summer of “childhood” before taking off for college. My life has slowed down a lot and I have more time now so I’m taking over the newsletter again.
If you own a business and would like to advertise on this website contact me and we’ll set you up. We’d love to have more sponsors.
I would love to have you send me upcoming events and ideas for stories. We have a lot of people reading the newsletter so it is a great way to get the word out. After your event send me an update of how it went and pictures. People love to see pictures of who went where and who did what!
Our two small towns, Elmwood and Murdock, are really one community with a five mile long main street. We are united in one main purpose...to provide our families with a safe, stable, warm place to live and grow. We do that by being friends, looking out for each other, and supporting our schools, our businesses, and each other. We cheer for the successes, we mourn the losses, and we stand shoulder to shoulder as “family.”
Let me help spread the news about the successes and ask for help when needed. Let me be your voice. Send me your news. I will share it with the “family.”
As long as you are reading the Murdock Newsletter you might as well subscribe to the Elmwood Newsletter, too. Our two towns are like hot fudge and ice cream. Separately they are both good but put them together and they are amazing! The news may be similar in both newsletters but I try to find stories specific to each town. You should find interesting stories in both!
“To read the papers and to listen to the news…one would think the country is in terrible trouble. You do not get that impression when you travel the back roads and the small towns do care about their country and wish it well.” Charles Kuralt
Send me your news by noon on Monday and I will get them in the Wednesday edition of the Murdock Newsletter. Email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Spread the word! Tell your friends to subscribe!

The Elmwood Murdock Kids are Pretty Smart Cookies!
The Science Fair is always a big event at the school but this year there were 88 entries and it was the best fair yet!

Ben Spaulding is a little engineer.

Claire Ernst experimented with kitten treats.

Drew Pegler cooked eggs.

This was a colorful experiement!

The judge listens intently as the boys describe the experiment.

Mark Sheldon takes in Going, Going, Gone!

Cindy Backemeyer, better known as Mrs. B., asks the kids how many worked on their projects on snow days!

There were only two kindergarteners who participated in the Science Fair. How brave of them! And their parents. Now that they've started they will have to do it every year because it gets in your blood! I'm sad that my kids are too old!

The first graders who participated.

Second graders who participated.

The third graders who participated.

The fourth graders who participated.

One of the fifth grade classes who participated. Actually, the whole fifth grade is required to do a project.

The second fifth grade class.

There were only two sixth graders who partipated. The other one couldn't be at the ceremony. (You thought it was Mr. Johnston? )
