Joy of Music Annual Concert at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church

    JoyMusic Murdock4

The joy in the faces of the combined choir from Ebenezer UMC and St. Paul United Methodist Church is extremely apparent. They not only sound amazing but have a great deal of fun while sharing the Joy of Music.

Several people from Murdock and the surrounding community shared their JOY of music and their musical talents this past Sunday at the Joy of Music concert. This event was held at the Murdock Methodist church and more than 10 area churches were represented.

Thank you to Dan Murdoch for emceeing the event every year and "recruiting" the singers and talent. His jokes never cease to fail, they just elicit groans sometimes. Seriously he is a walking joke machine.

Various denominations including Methodist, Lutheran, Catholic, Church of Christ, Episcopal and others participated. The variety of styles ranged from Gospel, western and contemporary with a fantastic rendition of "If I Had a Million Dollars" sung by the Popes.

    JoyMusic Murdock3

This year also featured a trumpet trio with Mr. Hansen, young Mr. Borneimeir and Mr. Baumeister on the horn.

If you have any singing voice at all and would like to share it with others contact anyone at either of the Methodist churches. They would love to have you participate.

After the concert desserts were served downstairs in the fellowship hall.

The talent in the community is outstanding and not to be missed. Make sure to put it on your calendar for next spring. I will post additional photos next week with a complete listing of all the participates.

If you would like to share additional photos from the Joy of Music please email them to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

    Annual Elmwood-Murdock Football Fish Fry

The Friday before Palm Sunday it is an annual tradition that people gather in Elmwood-Murdock gymnasium for the annual Football Fish Fry. I believe I have attended almost every year and this year I had other commitments and was very disappointed.

    ElmwoodMurdockFishFry4

However Randy, my husband, did bring me take out for me to eat afterward. He expected the lines to be shorter since he went later, but that wasn't the case. Thank you to Tammy Brummer for sending me the great photos for the newsletter!!

ElmwoodMurdockFishFry3Hand battered and fried fish, if you haven't been to the Football fish fry you are truly missing out!

    ElmwoodMurdockFishFry5

Homemade desserts always fill the tables and it's always hard to choose. Randy did forget my dessert, by the way, someone should mention that to him. I dare you.

Let's see how many actually read the newsletter and mention it to him!!

ElmwoodMurdockFishFryAbout 350 people attended this year according to Julie Schmale and the funds will go to the football team for football camp. If you bought a ticket from a player they get credit towards their costs. This really helps out the team and they thank you!
