The following discussions/updates were held concerning old business.
The board discussed the vacancy left by Jake Wilson on July 31st, but currently no one has expressed interest in filling the role.
The council agreed to postpone updating the municipal code book for future evaluation.
Burton Asphalt was again the focus of discussion. On July 8th, the Village Board approved sending a certified letter to Mr. Burton reminding him that he needs to fulfill his obligation for the street repairs. In this letter he was advised that he has until July 21st to complete both of these projects. On July 24th, he sent a message that he would be here between the 15-18th of August.
The Second St. project was mentioned briefly. Pavers, the contractor for this project, is also responsible for the ongoing "State" project near Murdock. After completing that project, they will begin work on repairs to 2nd Street.
In New Business:
Several residents attended the Board meeting to observe and raise questions. One resident, experiencing water issues at their property, discussed potential solutions with the Board and was accompanied by their contractor to clarify the technical aspects of the problem. Ultimately, the Board and the residents reached an agreement on a suitable resolution.
The board held a brief discussion regarding the presence of weeds in the town playground. A member volunteered to procure the necessary materials and assist with maintaining the park’s appearance.
Michelle Chesnut proposed the concept of “live streaming” the monthly board meetings and made a motion to proceed. The board determined that additional community feedback was needed and did not second the motion.
The Department of Water, Energy & Environment – Compliance Section has issued additional requirements for the wastewater lagoons. Ongoing vegetation and tree growth, as well as landscaping and grading issues, have been noted. The Board is considering soliciting bids from contractors for the initial cleanup. It has also been requested that a professional engineer be retained by November 1st. Further information will be provided in due course.
811 Diggers Hotline has recently received many requests to mark properties in the Village of Murdock. On 7/27/25, a complaint was filed with the State Fire Marshal Agency about 501 Colorado St.
Board Members reviewed the previous year’s “One & Six year” street plans. Some modifications will be made and communicated to JEO, our street superintendent.
There being no further business, the motion was made by Lee Towle and second by Tom Miner that the meeting close and the next regular meeting will be Tuesday September 2nd, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at the Murdock Village Hall, Motion carried unanimously by RCV.

COME ON OVER!
This is how country music started out, with acoustic instruments, before electricity. People sat out on the lawn, on the porch, or in a friend’s house and played their instruments together.
Enjoy the originality of music which is still present in many circles of friends.
