Murdock 4th of July
It was so great to see the town filled with people again for the 4th of July.
All month I will be posting photos of the parade and other pictures people have submitted.
If you have photos you would like to share of anything from the day's festivities please email them to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
I always love when Suzie Vogler brings her miniature horses to the parade.
It wouldn't be the Murdock parade without it ending with watermelon.
I think this is of TJ's favorite things to do on the 4th of July. I know the kids love it.
I know the kids love it!!
Don't forget you can still order peaches and pears from the Murdock Lions Club.
Murdock Playground Updates!
- We were not selected for the 2021 Community Challenge grant through AARP this year.
- We were informed the E-M High School will continue land talks over the next couple years, which rules out utilizing land up by the high school for the current Murdock playground plan.
- We would like to move forward with the current playground plan, but we still need to raise about 30K more dollars.
- If we are unable to raise those funds, we may go back to the playground designer to ask for a smaller modified design.
- We have worked with current donors to raise about $41K and we want to be respectful of those donors to move forward with a playground being installed in Fall 2021.
If you are still considering donating, please reach out to Kristi McHugh at 402-314-5957. We appreciate any donation and are thankful for the community support!
P.S. We hope to have a sign-up in Liberty Circle to create more awareness of the playground, especially for the 4th of July!
You have heard in Christmas in July. Well it's never too early to start thinking about the very popular Holiday Craft Fair.

Glimpse into Murdock History
Continuing with our new series to the weekly news.
These are no ordinary photos, but COLOR photographs. In the 1950s this was almost unheard of then. It was cutting-edge "technology". Thank you to Ramona Oehlerking for the video/images.
Many people have commented to me that Pastor Heim probably wasn't responsible for all these photos. Seems Ed Niemeyer (from the previous photo series) also took photos during this era. The photos were given to Maxine Cline.
We still don't know the identity of this lovely young woman. Many people at the parade asked if I had found out yet and it seems no one knows. So spread the news, share this newsletter and let's see if we figure it out. I'm sure SOMEONE knows.
Every week I am getting emails at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. from people who are enjoying the photos. Thank you for reading and sharing with others. It's nice to know I'm not just "talking to the wind."
Remember, reader-submitted photos like this are a reason why the newsletter is interesting. You can send your Murdock photos of events, friends, and family to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
