Letter from Jesus about Christmas --

Dear Children,
It has come to my attention that many of you are upset that folks are taking My name out of the season. Maybe you've forgotten that I wasn't actually born during this time of the year. Although I do appreciate being remembered anytime.
How I personally feel about this celebration can probably be most easily understood by those of you who have been blessed with children of your own. I don't care what you call the day. If you want to celebrate My birth, just GET ALONG AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER.
Now, having said that let Me go on. If it bothers you that the town in which you live doesn't allow a scene depicting My birth, put in a small Nativity scene on your own front lawn. If all My followers did that there wouldn't be any need for such a scene on the town square because there would be many of them all around town.
Stop worrying about the fact that people are calling the tree a holiday tree, instead of a Christmas tree. It was I who made all trees. You can remember Me anytime you see any tree. Decorate a grape vine if you wish: I actually spoke of that one in a teaching, explaining who I am in relation to you and what each of our tasks were. If you have forgotten that one, look up John 15: 1 - 8.
If you want to give Me a present in remembrance of My birth here is my wish list. Choose something from it:
1. Instead of writing protest letters objecting to the way My birthday is being celebrated, write letters of love and hope to soldiers away from home. They are terribly afraid and lonely this time of year. I know, they tell Me all the time.
2. Visit someone in a nursing home. You don't have to know them personally. They just need to know that someone cares about them.
3. Instead of writing George complaining about the wording on the cards his staff sent out this year, why don't you write and tell him that you'll be praying for him and his family this year. Then follow up. It will be nice hearing from you again.
4. Instead of giving your children a lot of gifts you can't afford and they don't need, spend time with them. Tell them the story of My birth, and why I came to live with you down here. Hold them in your arms and remind them that I love them.
5. Pick someone that has hurt you in the past and forgive him or her.
6. Did you know that someone in your town will attempt to take their own life this season because they feel so alone and hopeless? Since you don't know who that person is, try giving everyone you meet a warm smile; it could make the difference.
7. Instead of nit picking about what the retailer in your town calls the holiday, be patient with the people who work there. Give them a warm smile and a kind word. Even if they aren't allowed to wish you a "Merry Christmas" that doesn't keep you from wishing them one.
8. If you really want to make a difference, support a missionary-- especially one who takes My love and Good News to those who have never heard My name.
9. Here's a good one. There are individuals and whole families in your town who not only will have no "Christmas" tree, but neither will they have any presents to give or receive. If you don't know them, buy some food and a few gifts and give them to the Salvation Army or some other charity which believes in Me and they will make the delivery for you.
10. Finally, if you want to make a statement about your belief in and loyalty to Me, then behave like a Christian. Don't do things in secret that you wouldn't do in My presence. Let people know by your actions that you are one of mine.
Don't forget; I am God and can take care of Myself. Just love Me and do what I have told you to do. I'll take care of all the rest. Check out the list above and get to work; time is short. I'll help you, but the ball is now in your court. And do have a most blessed Christmas with all those whom you love and remember: I LOVE YOU, JESUS

What’s Happening Around Our Community

The Tomorrow's Producers 4-H club held their first ever free night of babysitting on Friday, December 5th at the Methodist church in Murdock. There were 14 children enrolled for the evening of fun. They started the night off with games and coloring. After a light supper they played several rounds of Bingo! They also frosted and decorated their own Christmas cookies. Hand painted Christmas cards with Santa were also made. Sue Platt entertained the kids with her old slide projector and the evening was finished off with a movie and popcorn. Thank you to all the families who participated and all the help from the 4-Hers and their families. It was a great success!!

2008 Football Banquet
The Elmwood-Murdock Football Banquet was held in the party room of Valentino’s last Sunday night. Tables were beautifully decorated by Diane Neels and Jackie Barnes who made astonishing Christmas ornaments for each team member. Awards were given to each player after a nice meal was served. There were some really AMAZING accomplishments both individually and obviously as a team. The coaches announced and gave recognition to each player for the part they played on the 2008 Knights football team. T-shirts were given to the top three of each class for weight room honors. Then the senior boys gave their coaches a photo they had taken as a token of their appreciation. Julie Schmale and Nancy Luetchens gave each senior a very nice formatted 8x10 that they, along with Joyce Vogt, put together. This class was the first class to have gone through the E-M football program starting with the third grade. Video put together by Tyler Schmale of a summary of the football games concluded the wonderful celebration.

Military Orchestra Graced Lofte Stage

Music filled the air as the sixty-member orchestra filled the entire Lofte stage last Sunday afternoon as the 43 Army Band played their instruments. The concert included patriotic selections, marches and emphasized holiday music. The 43rd's members are citizen soldiers who bring a wide variety of skills, talents and longevity to the unit. The members' various civilian jobs and experiences contribute a great deal to the overall success of the 43rd Army Band. This group meets one weekend a month and 15 days during the summer to rehearse and to fulfill military training requirements.
What a memorable experience!!!

KBC Opens Winter Season at Mahoney State Park

On Friday, November 28th, KBC Production Company opened its winter season at Mahoney State Park with the new holiday comedy, "Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!)". Fed up with performing Charles Dickens' holiday classic, three actors decide to write their own holiday play starting with every Christmas story ever told. For good measure, they throw in Christmas traditions from around the world, seasonal icons from pop-culture and top it off with every carol ever sung. Expect references to the Grinch, Rudolph, Jimmy Stewart and more! The end result is a madcap romp through the holiday season. Some mild adult content and conversations about the reality of Santa Claus may not be suited for very young audiences.

Starring in the production are Kevin Colbert of Weeping Water, Jim Knierim of Louisville and Mick Kovar of Lincoln. Performance dates are Dec 12-14, 19-21, and 26-30. Friday and Saturday night performances begin at 7:30pm while Sunday performances are at 2pm. Sunday, Dec 28th is the only Sunday night performance.

Tickets for the shows may be purchased by calling the park at (402)944-2523 ext 7122. Show tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children. Dinner theater tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children (12 and under).

FOOD DRIVE AND MEMORIAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP

We will again be having a food drive for the local food pantry. If each building brings 750 of the requested food items for a total of 1500 we will dismiss early on December 23, 2008. Also, we are requesting that students bring money for a memorial music scholarship fund in memory of A.J., Tyler, and Dillon. Our goal is $500 total from both schools.
Food items that will count toward the total are: canned fruits, canned vegetables, cereal, rice, pasta, (no Ramen noodles) and paper products.

We will dismiss at 1:15 p.m. on December 23, 2008 if we reach these goals. Students may bring food items and money from December 1 through 9:00 a.m. on December 19. Please contact the school office if you have any questions.

Funny

A man feared his wife wasn't hearing as well as she used to and he thought she might need a hearing aid.

Not quite sure how to approach her, he called the family Doctor to discuss the problem.

The Doctor told him there is a simple formal test the husband could perform to give the Doctor a better idea about her hearing loss. Here's what you do," said the Doctor, "stand about 40 feet away from her, and in a normal conversational speaking tone see if she hears you.

If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response."

That evening, the wife is in the kitchen cooking dinner, and he was in the den. He says to himself, "I'm about 40 feet away, let's see what happens."

Then in a normal tone he asks, 'Honey , what's for dinner?"

No response.

So the husband moves closer to the kitchen, about 30 feet from his wife and repeats, "Honey, what's for dinner?"

Still no response.

Next he moves into the dining room where he is about 20 feet from his wife and asks, "Honey, what's for dinner?"

Again he gets no response.

So, he walks up to the kitchen door, about 10 feet away. "Honey, what's for dinner?" Again there is no response.

So he walks right up behind her. "Honey, what's for dinner?"

"Ralph, for the FIFTH time, CHICKEN!"
