Coaches Comments: The Knights fought hard but came out on the losing end as the defending State Champion Wakefield Trojans defeated the Elmwood-Murdock Knights 35-14 in the Class C-2 Quarterfinals played in Elmwood Monday night. Wakefield had the #1 offense in the state coming into the game averaging over 400 yards a game. They have a lot of speed and an outstanding QB in Joel Nixon. Both teams took pretty good care of the ball as each team had only 1 turnover throughout the contest. I felt we needed to play our best game on both sides of the ball and hopefully create some turnovers. Wakefield’s line was quick off the ball and we didn’t give Kevin Zoz enough time to pass at times. When we made it 20-14 at the start of the 4th quarter I thought we had an excellent chance to pull off the upset. I thought their missed extra point would come back to haunt them and then Nixon had the 94 yard kick off return and quickly turned momentum around and they were able to regain control of the game. I’m very proud of our team and the way they responded to challenges all season. We had a great season. Special thanks to assistant coaches Dave Novak, Monte Frerichs, Don Brothers, and Mike Fischer for their time, effort, and commitment to the Elmwood-Murdock Football Program.

Knightstars Summary vs. Plattsmouth
The Elmwood-Murdock Lady Knights 8th grade basketball team traveled to Plattsmouth to play them in a Twin River League game on November 11. The team came out and played a very aggressive defensive game. They played a solid man to man defense and got a lot of turnovers and made Plattsmouth take difficult shots. We jumped out to a 5-0 lead and could have been a lot worse, but missed a few layups . In the second half we played a good 3rd quarter with the girls getting many offensive rebounds and also started to look up the court for teammates in transition offense. Offensively, we needed to be just a little quicker in passing to the open girls, and have confidence when they get an open shot to shoot the ball.

Leading Scorers: Megan S – 8, Erin D – 5, Kat W – 3, Shannon R – 2, Lizzy P – 2
