Inspiration

Years ago, a farmer owned land along the Atlantic seacoast. He constantly advertised for hired hands. Most people werereluctant to work on farms along the Atlantic. They dreaded theawful storms that raged across the Atlantic, wreaking havoc on the buildings and crops. As the farmer interviewed applicants for the job, he received a steady stream of refusals. Finally, a short, thin man, well past middle age, approachedthe farmer. "Are you a good farm hand?" the farmer asked him."Well, I can sleep when the wind blows," answered the little man.Although puzzled by this answer, the farmer, desperate for help, hired him. The little man worked well around the farm, busy from dawn to dusk, and the farmer felt satisfied with the man's work. Then one night the wind howled loudly in from offshore.Jumping out of bed, the farmer grabbed a lantern and rushednext door to the hired hand's sleeping quarters. He shook thelittle man and yelled, "Get up! A storm is coming! Tie things down before they blow away!" The little man rolled over in bed and said firmly, "No sir. I told you, I can sleep when the wind blows."Enraged by the response, the farmer was tempted to fire him on the spot. Instead, he hurried outside to prepare for the storm. To his amazement, he discovered that all of the haystacks hadbeen covered with tarpaulins. The cows were in the barn, the chickens were in the coops, and the doors were barred. The shutters were tightly secured. Everything was tied down.Nothing could blow away. The farmer then understood what hishired hand meant, so he returned to his bed to also sleep while the wind blew. When you're prepared, spiritually, mentally, and physically, you have nothing to fear. Can you sleep when the wind blows through your life? The hired hand in the story was able to sleep because he had secured the farm against the storm. We secure ourselves against the storms of life by grounding ourselves in the Word of God.We don't need to understand, we just need to hold His hand to have peace in the middle of storms.I hope you enjoy your day and you sleep well.

Whatever your cross, whatever your pain, there will always be sunshine, after the rain.... Perhaps you may stumble, perhaps even fall; but God's always ready, to answer your call.... He knows every heartache, sees every tear, a word from His lips, can calm every fear... Your sorrows may linger, throughout the night, But suddenly vanish, dawn's early light... The Savior is waiting, somewhere above, to give you His grace, and send you His love...

What’s Happening Around Our Community

TAKE STATE KNIGHTS!

History Making 11th Win for the Elmwood-Murdock Knight Football Team!
“The 2008 team will always be remembered as the first Elmwood-Murdock team to reach 11 wins in a season.”
Coach Schmale said, “One thing that makes the 2008 season very special is that the success of the team was somewhat of a surprise to a lot of people in our community. We had a few starters returning but not as many as in years past. We graduated a class of 13 seniors including two All-State players from last season. Every year we’ve had to fill in some gaps with new players. Our team members always seem to respond to the challenge.

Many of the values that have been displayed by our teams in the past such as hard work, discipline, teamwork, and unselfish play have also been demonstrated by the 2008 team. We’ve had a number of good teams at E-M. I can not say that one particular team was better than the others because each team had different strengths. The 2008 team will always be remembered as the first Elmwood-Murdock team to reach 11 wins in a season. That’s something the players, coaches, school, and community can be very proud of.”

Luetchens runs on a 3rd and 25 to go. The chains come in to measure ½ yard short but gets the 1st down on the next play.

#16 Jon Luetchens scores the final touchdown

Coach Schmale congratulates the Team on a never-before-done 11th win in a season.

Final score 20-12

Tidbits
DID YOU KNOW?

Peel a banana from the bottom and you won't have to
pick the little 'stringy things' off of it. That's how the primates do it.

Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.

Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum f oil. It will stay fresh much longer and not mold!

Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating. Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.

Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef. It will help pull the grease away from the meat while cooking.
To really make scrambled eggs or omelets rich add a couple of spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up.

For a cool brownie treat, make brownies as directed. Melt Andes mints in double broiler and pour over warm brownies. Let set for a wonderful minty frosting.

Add garlic immediately to a recipe if you want a light taste of garlic and at the end of the recipe if your want a stronger taste of garlic.

Leftover snickers bars from Halloween make a delicious dessert. Simply chop them up with the food chopper. Peel, core and slice a few apples Place them in a baking dish and sprinkle the chopped candy bars over the apples. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes!!! Serve alone or with vanilla ice cream. Yummm!

Website of the Week

Take a look at the school website www.elm.esu3.org
It has a thank you letter from E-M authorities, SOS t-shirt order form (shirts look really cool) and some updates.
