Football game vs. Pender at
 7:00 pm
 in Elmwood on October 25th.

3Coaches Comments Kevin Zoz connected on 7/10 passes for 141 yards and 1 touchdown as the Elmwood-Murdock Knights defeated the Louisville Lions 31-0 last Thursday night at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. The game originally scheduled to be played in Elmwood was moved due to poor weather conditions. I think the players for both teams were excited to play on the field turf at Wesleyan. We left it up to the seniors since it was their last regular season home game and they voted unanimously to play the game at Wesleyan. Zoz also scored on a 3 yard run, kicked a school record 38 yard field goal, and had 1 interception on defense for the Knights. Zoz broke the old field goal record of 34 yards set by Casey Dieckmann back in 1997. David Todd rushed for 93 yards on 19 carries and 2 touchdowns. With the win, the Knights captured the C-2 District V Championship for the 8th consecutive year and qualify for the State Playoffs for the 9th consecutive year. I’m proud of the team and happy for our seniors. One of the team goals at the start of the season was to keep the District Championship Plaque at Elmwood-Murdock. The Knights host Pender in the 1st round of the C-2 State Playoffs on Thursday. Pender is a good football team and they have a balanced attack on offense. We will need to put together a complete game in order to advance to the next round.

' HAPPY FALL TO YOU'

From one pumpkin to another!!!!!!!

A woman was asked by a coworker, 'What is it like to be a Christian?'

The coworker replied, 'It is like being a pumpkin.'  God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off of you.  Then He cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff.

He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, and greed.  Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see.'

This was passed on to me by another pumpkin.  Now it's your turn to pass it to other pumpkins.

I liked this enough to send it to all the pumpkins in my patch.

The Lady Knights won the ECNC Conference tournament for the 4th year in a row
The Lady Knights won the ECNC Conference tournament for the 4th year in a row against some very stiff competition. The road went through highly rated Mead in the semi-finals and C1 power Johnson County Central, in the finals. Against JCC, the Lady Knight overcame a 2-1 deficit to win the 4th and 5th game. Many Lady Knights stood out as it was a total team effort. Megan Bober lead the Lady Knights with 21 kills, 7 ace blocks, 12 set assists and 2 ace serves. Middle hitter, Sierra Ronhovde, lead the Lady Knights in the crucial 4th game with 8 digs to force the final 5th set. She also had 10 kills along with 2 ace serves. Setter Alli Kulhman had 18 set assist mostly by finding ways to give Megan Bober the ball on the right side. Megan Scholting's serving kept JCC out of system enough so that their high powered offense could not run a peak efficiency. She served 23 times at 100%. Claire Thoeming had 5 ace blocks and solid serving in the 5ht game while Mallory Buck handled most of the difficult serves of JCC to keep the Lady Knights in system. She also played solid defense with 8 digs.

State Football Play-offs.   We are projecting that we will play at home on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at
7:00 p.m. Official play-off parings will be finalized this Saturday.  We will send official information home
on Monday regarding the soup supper and the play-offs.

We still need some help. Call Pam Goudie if you can work Wednesday, October 24th, at 2:00 in Murdock to help cook, or if you can help work at the soup supper on Thursday, October 25th. (867-2005)

FALL FESTIVAL
It's that time again!  The annual Fall Festival will be held on October 27th from 2:00-3:30 p.m. at the
Elementary School for grades PreK-6.  This Festival is sponsored by the S.O.S, but needs volunteers to
help out with the activities, refreshments, and/or decorating.  Set-up will begin at 9am on Saturday, October 27th for anyone wishing to help decorate.

WILD ENCOUNTERS ASSEMBLY

We will be having an assembly on October 24, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the elementary gym.  This assembly will feature wild animals.  This assembly is sponsored by the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District and is funded by the S.O.S.  Parents are welcome to attend

RED RIBBON WEEK

The Elementary Student Council is sponsoring Red Ribbon Week.  This event will take place from October 22-26.  We will start our activities Monday morning with short lessons about Red Ribbon Week and the importance of staying drug free to each of the classrooms.  After the lessons, each student will receive a bracelet to wear as a reminder to stay away from drugs.  During the week, each day a student wears this bracelet, they will be given a prize.

The Student Council is also sponsoring a pledge contest for the elementary.  We are asking each of the classes to create a drug-free pledge that they will present at an assembly.  The class with the most unique and creative pledge will be rewarded.

On Friday we will celebrate our accomplishments by sponsoring a “Follow Your Dreams Day”.  Students are encouraged to wear their pajamas to school to show that they are willing to follow their dreams.

The Student Council has been working very hard to plan this event and is really looking forward to sharing it with the students.  We would also like to thank S.O.S. for helping fund this great project.
