Inspiration
Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections!
God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but HE did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way.
FEED YOUR FAITH, AND DOUBT WILL STARVE TO DEATH.
HOMECOMING WEEK - SPIRIT WEEK
Wednesday - Super Hero Day
Thursday - Medieval Day
Friday - Salt/Pepper Day
No coach’s comments this week as the Knights had last Friday off. We’ll see you this week for the Homecoming competition against Palmyra
3rd & 4th Youth Football Team
Coach Dwyer Reports: “We defeated the Palmyra Panthers on September 23rd by a score of 22-6.
The boys did a great job of tackling and being able to play until the
whistle. We gave up a long run for a touchdown on the first series
and then after that we shut down the Palmyra offense. Our offense was
able to get some long runs, and also our line did a very good job of
blocking some bigger kids.”
American Legion 247 First Annual Golf Tournament declared a success!
Forty-eight golfers teed off shortly after 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sep 23rd for the First Annual American Legion Post 247 Golf Tournament at Grandpa's Woods playing a two-person scramble. It was a close game, but in the end Chuck & Chris Zierott came in first with a score of 31; Mike Lenhoff and Dennis Bohken placed 2nd, also with a score of 31; and Tom Peterson and Mike Krass finished in 3rd place with a score of 33. In addition to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, flag prizes were awarded for each hole, and an assortment of door prizes and raffle prizes were distributed to the players and other friends and family members who joined them after the round of golf for the meal.
American Legion Post 247 would like to thank all their corporate sponsors, Grandpa's Woods, the golfers, Mick Bornemeier - grillmaster, all attendees, and everyone who brought food items or otherwise helped make the day a success. A special thank you to Jacob Blunt, Amanda Brewer, and Jeff Johnston for being there from the beginning to the end helping set up and put everything away. Proceeds from this event are being directed to the Elmwood G.A.R. Hall Veterans' Museum.
What’s Happening Around Our Community
ELEMENTARY GRANDPARENTS DAY
The Elementary Grandparents Day is scheduled for Friday, October 12, 2007 from 1:30-3:00 p.m. All
Grandparents are welcome to attend. We will start in the gym at 1:30 p.m. with a program for all of the
Grandparents. The grandparents may visit the classrooms after the completion of the program. Students
may invite any family member or friend to attend the Grandparents Day.

Grandparents Day is celebrated the first Sunday
after Labor Day.
It is set aside to honor Grandparents. The day is observed much the same as Mother's Day or Father's Day. Visiting, gift giving and remembrances mark the occasion.
A little history: The impetus for a National Grandparents Day originated in 1970, with West Virginia housewife, Marian McQuade. Years of effort paid off when, in 1978, the United States Congress passed legislation subsequently signed by President Jimmy Carter, proclaiming the first Sunday after Labor Day as National Grandparents Day.
September was chosen for the holiday, to signify the 'autumn years' of life. Through this holiday we honor grandparents, give them an opportunity to show love for their children's children and help children become aware of the strength, information and guidance older people can offer.

Website of the Week
www.valaspumpkinpatch.com
Vala’s Pumpkin Patch just keeps getting better and better. Each year they’ve added new attractions.

This year they added the Jumpin’ Jack Jubilee Jumping Pillows! What a blast for all ages. Jump, laugh, and scream on the colorful large jumping pillows. Parents and kids alike will be amazed at the fun of jumping together. It’s also a great workout!

Some of the old attractions will always remain-like the funnel cakes, caramel apples, and fried turkey legs. Mmm, Mmm, Mmm!
And of course the hayrack ride out to the pumpkin patch. This wonderful and unique attraction truly “Harvests Fun and Creating Lasting Memories and Traditions” for the whole family.

In the last 4,000 years, no new animals have been domesticated.
If the population of China walked past you, 8 abreast, the line would never end because of the rate of reproduction.
