September 11 is next Tuesday. It definitely marks a very significant and painful day in American History. I remember, as I’m certain you do, the exact place I was when the first plane hit… and then the second… and a third. We were traveling to a funeral that was four or five hours away. We had carpooled and should have been back in time for kids to be out of school. I wanted to just turn around and come home but I couldn’t. I was so relieved when I was able to be with my family.
“September 11 is a very important date for us to remember and for us to begin the process of turning toward those with love, with concern and compassion, and yes, even with God’s blessing through us, into their world." Rev. Dr. Daniel P. Matthews (found at www.explorefaith.org)

Hot Air Balloon Excitement
Last week my kids came in screaming that there was a hot air balloon outside. Much to my surprise it was RIGHT outside. We watched it come from 310th Street west. At one point, it looked like it had landed in the Mark Luetchens field. Within minutes, it was directly over our house and low enough for us to talk to those inside the basket! They hollered, “See you at School!” I don’t know who was in the basket, but they must have known us. It was MUCH fun!

Tidbits:
"Stewardesses" is the longest word typed with only the left hand...
And "lollipop" is the longest word typed with your right hand.
No word in the English language rhymes with month, orange, silver, or purple.
"Dreamt" is the only English word that ends in the letters "MT".
Our eyes are always the same size from birth, but our nose and ears never stop growing.
The sentence: "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" uses every letter of the alphabet.
The words 'racecar,' 'kayak' and 'level' are the same whether they are read left to right or right to left (palindromes).
There are only four words in the English language which end in "dous": tremendous, horrendous, stupendous, and hazardous.
There are two words in the English language that have all five vowels in order: "abstemious" and "facetious."
TYPEWRITER is the longest word that can be made using the letters only on one row of the keyboard.
