Inspiration
May you have
Enough happiness to make you sweet,
Enough trials to make you strong,
Enough sorrow to keep you human,
Enough hope to make you happy.
Always put yourself in others' shoes.
If you feel that it hurts you,
It probably hurts the other person, too
The happiest of people
Don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the most of everything
that comes along their way.

Give Blood - a message from Linda Andersen

“BLOODMOBILE! MURDOCK METHODIST CHURCH: TUESDAY, JULY 17TH: 2:30-7:00PM E-MAIL ME OR CALL ME FOR AN APPT.! THANKS SO MUCH: AS ALWAYS THERE'S A CRITICAL NEED FOR BLOOD, ESPECIALLY "O" TYPES, THAT'S THE UNIVERSALLY ACCEPTABLE TYPE WHEN IN DOUBT, EVERYONE CAN RECEIVE "O" BLOOD IN CASE OF EMERGENCIES......YOUR BLOOD COLLECTOR COORDINATOR: LINDA 867-2089
Any takers for the bloodmobile next Tuesday, July 17th at the Murdock Methodist Church from 2:30-7:00pm?! Be Not Afraid! We have a critical shortage right now, we have less than a 2 day supply and to be safe, we need a 4 day supply. Only 5% of eligible donors give blood. One local recipient just used 40 units for a hemorrhage. Be a lifesaver, be a hero. We hear about heroes all the time and this is the easiest way to do just that. You don't have to donate a kidney, just give blood and you're helping out the same way!!! Let me know what time is good for you!!! Linda 867-2089 or e-mail me back. Thank you so much...”
Elmwood-Murdock FBLA Takes Windy City by Storm
Fourteen members of the Elmwood-Murdock Future Business Leaders of America traveled to Chicago on June 27 to join over 7,000 fellow FBLA members from across the nation for the 65th Annual National FBLA Conference. While in the windy city, members attended a Blue Man Group performance, enjoyed fireworks at Navy Pier, toured the Board of Trade, and overlooked the city from the top of the Sears Tower.
At the conference, members attended general sessions, voted for national officers, and competed in competitive events. The conference culminated with an awards session, where Elmwood-Murdock students excelled and earned four top ten awards. Recognition included Britney Hrabik, 5th Place, Electronic Career Portfolio; Mallory Buck, Kevin Zoz, and Clay Carlton, 7th Place, Multimedia Presentation; Trent Shrader, Marcus Winter, and Jon Luetchens, 2nd Place, Partnership with Business Project; and Madison Stephen, Kevin Zoz, and Scott Ronhovde, 2nd Place, Community Service Project. Ronhovde was also a finalist in the Impromptu Speaking event. Other Elmwood-Murdock competitors included Sierra Ronhovde, Megan Bober, and Hannah Fischer, American Enterprise Project; Madison and Sam Stephen, Web Site Development; Jon Luetchens, Public Speaking I; Lachelle Stille, FBLA Principles and Procedures; and Marcus Winter, Introduction to Business.
Finally, the chapter earned the Gold Seal of Merit Award and “Outstanding Chapter” designation, the highest recognition bestowed upon chapters. Melissa Schram and Kurk Shrader served as chapter advisers this past year.
Welcome Home!

Phyllis and Merle Buell just got back from a trip to outstate New York. They visited Broadalbin with their two sons, Ken Buell and Mark Buell who both now reside in Missouri, and their daughter Carolyn Geschke of Iowa.
They left Wednesday, June 27 and returned back home July 3, just in time to attend the Murdock Fourth of July Parade. Phyllis said they have been coming to the parade ever since it started.
She said they really had the red carpet rolled out for them as they attended the Fish House Church. “Merle got to ring the bell at Fish House Church. The Buell family had attended this church at one time. We’d never met these people, but they really rolled out the red carpet for us”, said Phyllis.
The Buells also visited Niagara Falls and had a family reunion with some cousins while they were away.
Phyllis said, “When we came home, the plants looked better than when we left. Kim Scholting had watered and taken care of our kittens while we were gone.”
It’s a Small World-sent by Duane Hovorka
“Heather Springer of Lincoln, currently stationed with an Army medi-vac unit in Iraq, passed on a greeting to her friends in Elmwood and Murdock. Heather met Duane Hovorka of Elmwood at the Atlanta airport, and said she was heading for leave in Nebraska for two weeks before returning to her tour of duty in Iraq. Heather was on her way home, and said the first thing she was going to do there was to give her mother a great big hug. Hovorka was in Georgia for a Regional Farm Bill Summit hosted by National Wildlife Federation. Heather, from Lincoln, said she had friends in the Elmwood-Murdock area.”
Helpful Hints
-
You need only two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and should not, use the duct tape.
-
The five most essential words for a healthy, vital relationship are "I apologize" and "you are right."
