Inspiration
Happy Father’s Day dads!

Fathers Are Wonderful People
Fathers are wonderful people
Too little understood,
And we do not sing their praises
As often as we should...
For, somehow, Father seems to be
The man who pays the bills,
While Mother binds up little hurts
And nurses all our ills...
And Father struggles daily
To live up to "his image"
As protector and provider
And "hero of the scrimmage"...
And perhaps that is the reason
We sometimes get the notion,
That Fathers are not subject
To the thing we call emotion,
But if you look inside Dad's heart,
Where no one else can see
You'll find he's sentimental
And as "soft" as he can be...
But he's so busy every day
In the grueling race of life,
He leaves the sentimental stuff
To his partner and his wife...
But Fathers are just wonderful
In a million different ways,
And they merit loving compliments
And accolades of praise,
For the only reason Dad aspires
To fortune and success
Is to make the family proud of him
And to bring them happiness...
And like Our Heavenly Father,
He's a guardian and a guide,
Someone that we can count on
To be always on our side.
~ Helen Steiner Rice ~

My Father

When I was...
• Four years old: My daddy can do anything.
• Five years old: My daddy knows a whole lot.
• Six years old: My dad is smarter than your dad.
• Eight years old: My dad doesn't know exactly everything.
• Ten years old: In the olden days, when my dad grew up, things were sure different.
• Twelve years old: Oh, well, naturally, Dad doesn't know anything about that. He is too old to remember his childhood.
• Fourteen years old: Don't pay any attention to my dad. He is so old-fashioned.
• Twenty-one years old: Him? My Lord, he's hopelessly out of date.
• Twenty-five years old: Dad knows about it, but then he should,
because he has been around so long.
• Thirty years old: Maybe we should ask Dad what he thinks. After all, he's had a lot of experience.
• Thirty-five years old: I'm not doing a single thing until I talk to Dad.
• Forty years old: I wonder how Dad would have handled it. He was so wise.
• Fifty years old: I'd give anything if Dad were here now so I could talk this over with him. Too bad I didn't appreciate how smart he was. I could have learned a lot from him.

The 2009 Murdock/Elmwood-Murdock Alumni Banquet was held Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the Murdock Fire Hall. The banquet had to be held in the Murdock Fire Hall this year due to the High School renovations.

The evening was planned and hosted by the 25 year honor class of 1984. Members of the class in attendance were Deanna Jones Hite, Teresa Schuelke-Harms, & Nancy Carnicle Luetchens.

A special thank you to Mark Luetchens for stepping in to be the Master of Ceremonies for the evening.

Social Hour began at 6:00 pm. Everyone enjoyed this time by having punch, visiting with friends & classmates & looking at old year books and memorabilia. Plans were available to look at the E-M Elementary & High School renovations.

The Invocation was given by Pastor Bob Neben from the 50 year honor class of 1959.

A delicious buffet dinner was served at 6:30 pm with the meal catered by Melody Teten from Johnson, NE. Everyone had a choice of roast beef, grilled chicken, cheesy potato casserole, corn, green beans, dinner roll, lettuce salad & cheesecake with their choice of topping.

Attendance for the 2009 Alumni Banquet was 63.

A short business meeting was held following the meal. The minutes & treasurer’s report were given with no corrections or changes and were approved by Abe Rikli & seconded by Bob Neben.

The evening continued with the introduction of the honor classes with fun facts & jokes. Songs from each honor class year was provided by Bryan Tepe from “Songs To Go”.

Honored classes were 1939, 1949, 1959, 1969, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1999, 2009.
Teresa Schuelke-Harms shared a few memories from the 25 year class. Francis Lindell spoke on behalf of the class of 1959. Marilyn Schmidt Miller was the only one in attendance from the class of 1949. And Eunice Kuehn Stock spoke for the class of 1939.

The evening ended with a slide show of the honor classes.

Next year the Alumni Banquet will be held in the newly renovated E-M High School on Saturday, June 5, 2010.

Respectfully Submitted
Nancy Luetchens

Thanks to Dawn Hromanik for sharing this site! I’m SURE it will be AMAZING if you’re interested in seeing the Youth to Carnegie Hall trip:

“Hello Everyone!
Yes it's been almost a month and if you are like me the month has just sped by without time to blink. I've had a couple of people ask about pictures from the (New York) trip and so here is the link. A few people have added to this album. Please feel free to add to the pictures. I don't have any of the Yankee's game and I'm sure others would like to see them.
