This is quite amazing so I’d like to share it with you! I received this from Grant Crawford:
“Dear Teri Bowman,
I just thought to send you a message, saying how much I've enjoyed your site. My name is Grant Crawford and I am a Christian sculptor.
Since you have honored Jesus on your website, I thought I would send you a photo of the statue of Jesus and the Little Children. I hope it will bring a blessing to you! Keep up the good work! Yours, Grant Crawford”
I wanted to share the sculpture in the newsletter so I replied:
“Hello Mr. Crawford! WOW! That is AMAZING!!! It gave me goose bumps! Thanks so much for sharing that with me. It WAS a blessing! I would like to include it in the "Inspiration" section in the next couple weeks if you don't mind. Let me know if that would be ok.
Do you live around the Murdock community? How did you find out about the Murdock newsletter site? I'm so pleased that you enjoy it. I'm also VERY happy that you let me know! Everyone could use encouragement :)

And his response was:
Dear Teri Bowman,
Thank you! You certainly may use it in your "Inspirations" piece. It is an inspired statue. I was shown the design of it in a vision. It took me two years to complete it. After a while, working on it, some of the particulars of the size and locations of the figures began to make more sense to me. I knew the verse about allowing the little children to come to him. What also made sense in the size which is 8' tall seated was another verse about unless you come as a little child, you cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven.
With the statue in these dimensions, any adult who sits on his knee is the same size as the children in the statue. Also, his knee (on one side) is empty. It shows that there is room for one more!
My wife had a strange dream last night, where the name of the town she was going to was Murdock. Believing in dreams and visions in guiding us, I, of course looked it up on the internet. There you were.

57th National Day of Prayer 
May 1, 2008, marks the 57th Annual National Day of Prayer. Once again Americans have a unique opportunity to unite in heart and mind as we stand against those forces that endanger the well-being of our country and all we hold dear. Please take time to join with the millions of individuals who will kneel before God’s throne to intercede for this great land and its citizens. It will be broadcast from Washington DC on May 1st from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm central time on DIRECTV channel 365, first time ever.
What to pray for:
Government-“When all Israel heard the verdict the king had given, they held the king in awe, because they saw that he had wisdom from God to administer justice.” 1Kings 3:28
This year, the American people will elect the officials in the Federal and State Government. Whatever the outcome, we know those assuming positions of leadership will bring their own ideas, priorities, and visions for the future of our great nation.
In the midst of such change, uncertainty abounds; yet, we do not need to fear. God is sovereign and nothing comes as a surprise to Him. Whether we face fluctuating economics, threats from abroad, unrest at home, or other troubling circumstances, our Heavenly Father is not caught unaware. Through prayer, we are able to tap into His wisdom, strength, protection, and peace. He stands ready to respond to our needs when we humbly ask for divine intervention in the affairs of men.

What’s Happening Around Our Community
Musical Auditions at Lofte Theatre
The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley will be holding auditions for its summer musical, " The Sound of Music." This is the classic love story of a novitiate nun sent by her Mother Superior to work as governess to seven children in 1930s Austria. Soon Maria and the children's father, the Captain, fall in love against the backdrop of the Third Reich and the onset of World War II.
All auditions will take place at the Lofte. Children ages 7-15 will audition on Monday, April 28th at 7pm. Auditions for all other actors, ages 16 and up will be held on April 29th and 30th at 7pm. Everyone should bring a prepared solo of no more than one minute. Accompanist provided. Actors will also perform cold readings from the script. Kevin Colbert will direct. Emily Raasch will be musical director.

GOLF NEWS
Information regarding the Elmwood-Murdock Golf Camp (June 16 -18) is available in the Elementary office or on the school website (Activities/Golf/Documents).

Bright Lights Summer Learning Adventures
Come celebrate summer as a season of learning! Bright Lights is offering a broad range of hands-on classes for middle school and elementary aged students. By mid April nearly 60% of the classes for summer 2008 were filled, but over 800 openings were still available. With the end of school a short time away, act now to register for hands-on classes that will explore your area of interest! There are no residency requirements for Bright Lights.
In fun classes, your child can enjoy topics like My Amazing Body (taught by a doctor/nurse team), Digital Photography, Podcasting, Spanish Fiesta in the Caribbean, Cooking, Mummies or Science: Natural Disasters. These classes will help keep student’s brains in gear to avoid the summer slide. Over the summer, children can lose up to two months of reading or math skills. Harvard researcher Jimmy Kim links reading 4-5 books in the summer with increased reading achievement gains.
A Lincoln tradition for over 20 years, check out the 2008 Bright Lights program schedule on-line at www.brightlights.org or call 420-1115. Information is also posted concerning need-based scholarships and bus transportation. 85% of the over 100 classes and day camps will be held at Randolph Elementary, 37th & D Streets, the weeks of June 9-13, June 23-27, and July 7-11.

Helpful Hint
GREAT TIPS:
1. Reheat Pizza
Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza. I saw this on the cooking channel and it really works.
2. Easy Deviled Eggs
Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up mixing thoroughly, cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into egg. Just throw bag away when done easy clean up.
3. Expanding Frosting
When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less sugar and calories per serving.
4. Reheating refrigerated bread
To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.
5. Newspaper weeds away
Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet
newspapers put layers around the plants overlapping as you go cover with mulch and forget about we! eds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.
6. Broken Glass
Use a wet cotton ball or Q-tip to pick up ! the small shards of glass you can't see easily.
7. No More Mosquitoes
Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosqu! itoes away.
8. Squirrel Away!
To keep squirrels from eating your plants sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant and the squirrels won't come near it.
9. Flexible vacuum
To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.
10. Reducing Static Cling
Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and -- ta da! -- static is gone.
11. Measuring Cups
Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry cup. Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out.
12. Foggy Windshield?
Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car. When the windows fog, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth!
13. Reopening envelope
If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include
something inside , just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Viola! It unseals easily.
14. Conditioner
Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's a lot cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn't like when you tried it in your hair...
15. Goodbye Fruit Flies
To get rid of pesky fruit flies , take a small glass fill it 1/2' with
Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid , mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!
16. Get Rid of Ants
Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it , take it 'home', can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains , but it works & you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!
