Attending the Nebraska City on Friday April 20, was a huge success for the vocal music department. The district contest was at Nebraska City instead of Auburn this year.

Mrs. Colbert said, “I really liked the facility and thought the host school did a marvelous job.”

The choir received a plaque for their performance on Friday. To receive a plaque, all judges must give the choir a superior rating. Elmwood-Murdock was the only choir to receive this honor among the class C schools at our site.

Attached are the results, including the students participating.

Mrs. Colbert said, “I was very pleased with the students’ performances. Nervousness is often an issue at these competitions. Singing in front of a judge who is about to tell you what is good or bad about your performance often overshadows the joy of singing! I'm proud of the students from Elmwood-Murdock and very happy to be given the opportunity to guide them in their musical endeavors!”

Six grade students took a field trip Friday, April 13. Their first stop was the one-room school in Murdock. They proceeded onto the High School for a tour. Only a couple weeks left to be sixth graders. The tour gave them an opportunity to become familiar with what life will be like as they transition into Middle School.

The last stop they made was at the Strategic Air & Space Museum. They were guided through an educational tour of four 30 minute stops. Students searched for trivia answers as they toured.

Pictured - Dalton Synovec, Jake Vavak, Cole Boeckman, Brandon Luetchens, and Cody Brown experienced the Orbit Table Simulator. It allowed the students to orbit marble satellites similar to the satellites that orbit our Earth. The whole in the center represents whatever you are orbiting, like the earth. The marble that rolls around the center is the satellite. Orbits can have different shapes and therefore will roll closer and farther at different times.

The students had a great experience riding the gravity simulator. It gave them a little bit of an idea of what an astronaut might experience as he or she entered in and out of space.

The Strategic Air & Space Museum is a great place to visit and is very close by!
