Inspiration
A doctor-friend wrote:
A couple of days ago I was running (I use that term very loosely) on my treadmill, watching a DVD sermon by Louie Giglio...and I was BLOWN AWAY! I want to share what I learned....but I fear not being able to convey it as well as I want. I will share anyway.
He (Louie) was talking about how inconceivably BIG our God is...how He spoke the universe into being...how He breathes stars out of His mouth that are huge raging balls of fire...etc. etc. Then He went on to speak of how this star-breathing, universe creating God ALSO knitted our human bodies together with amazing detail and wonder. At this point I am LOVING it (fascinating from a medical standpoint, you know.) .....and I was remembering how I was constantly amazed during medical school as I learned more and more about God's handiwork.. I remember so many times thinking....'How can ANYONE deny that a Creator did all of this???'
Louie went on to talk about how we can trust that the God who created all this, also has the power to hold it all together when things seem to be falling apart...how our loving Creator is also our sustainer.
And then I lost my breath. And it wasn't because I was running my treadmill, either!!! It was because he started talking about laminin.
I knew about laminin. Here is how wikipedia describes them: 'Laminins are a family of proteins that are an integral part of the structural scaffolding of basement membranes in almost every animal tissue.' You see.....laminins are what hold us together....LITERALLY. They are cell adhesion molecules. They are what holds one cell of our bodies to the next cell. Without them, we would literally fall apart. And I knew all this already. But what I didn't know is what laminin LOOKED LIKE.
But now I do. And I have thought about it a thousand times since (already).....
Here is what the structure of laminin looks like....AND THIS IS NOT a 'Christian portrayal' of it....if you look up laminin in any scientific/medical piece of literature; this is what you will see....

Now tell me that our God is not the coolest!!!
Amazing.
The glue that holds us together...ALL of us....is in the shape of the cross. Immediately Colossians 1:15-17 comes to mind.
'He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth , visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things HOLD TOGETHER. ' Colossians 1:15-17.
Call me crazy. I just think that is very, very, very cool.
Thousands of years before the world knew anything about laminin, Paul penned those words. And now we see that from a very LITERAL standpoint, we are held together...one cell to another....by the cross.
You would never in a quadrillion years convince me that is anything other than the mark of a Creator who knew EXACTLY what laminin 'glue' would look like long before Adam even breathed his first breath!!

This is a classic example of "the more it gets used, the more useful it becomes"
It is fun to browse and notice your neighbor, selling what they bought last year at your garage sale.
It is also, a benefit that allows folks to turn unused items to cash - all the ads have been made "Google - able" so you get great visibility for your old weed whacker.
Newsletter subscriptions are Free, and that is a great deal at twice the price!

NEWS FORM THE SCHOOL NURSE

We have seen a case of confirmed Fifth Disease in school. Fifth Disease is a viral disease characterized by red cheeks and a lacy rash on the body. It is important for you to check with your doctor to determine a diagnosis. Any woman in their first 3 months of pregnancy should be notified of contact with anyone with Fifth Disease. It can affect the developing baby.

Your student should stay home if the rash is uncomfortable (itchy) or if they have a fever. Please contact the office with questions or to report diagnosed Fifth Disease.

We also have had another confirmed case of Influenza B in the elementary school.

To All,

I want to start to spread the word about Tyler ’s birthday celebration. Tyler ’s 16th birthday is Wednesday, April 15. To celebrate his birthday, we will be having a gathering at our pond on Saturday, April 18 at 2:30 p.m. If anyone is interested, you can bring a plant that we will plant in memory of Tyler in a spot that we are going to create as a memorial site for Tyler and Dillon down by our pond. If you would like to release a fish into the pond in memory of Tyler , you can do that as well. Minnows, catfish and walleye are all fish that could be released. We plan to have fishing and a cookout, so we are crossing our fingers for good weather!! We do not have many chairs/seats, so if you have a chair to bring along, that would be great. If the weather turns out to be rainy, we will have a gathering instead at the roller skating rink in Elmwood. (Thanks, Julie!)

For anyone that might be interested, Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church on Wednesday morning, April 15, at 8:00 a.m. in honor of Tyler . After Mass, I will be going out to the cemetery to decorate for Tyler ’s birthday.

Please pass this along to anyone that might want to attend. Please call me or email me if you have any questions.

Thanks!
Annette

MISSING JESUS

It was Palm Sunday, and the family's 6-year old son had
to stay home from church because of strep throat.
When the rest of the family returned home carrying palm branches,
the little boy asked what they were for.
His mother explained, "People held them over Jesus' head as he walked by."
"Wouldn't you know it," the boy fumed.
"The one Sunday I don't go to church, and Jesus shows up!
