Malcolm Music Contest
Many Elmwood-Murdock groups including instrument and vocal duets, trio, quartets, solos, and many more attended the Malcolm Middle School Music contest last Friday. Buses left Murdock starting as early as 8:30 AM and returned as late at 8:00 PM. The day was a constant flow of musicians moving from one room to another to either perform their piece or to support their classmates as they performed.

Mrs. Betty Colbert

and Mr. Michael Hansen

are the two that made it all happen for the students. A big thank you to each of them for all the behind the scene hard work and many hours each of them put in to allow the kids to take part in this awesome event.

The Tomorrow's Producers 4-H Club held their last meeting on March 11th at the Methodist Church in Murdock. The club was reminded about fruit sales pick up on Sat. March 24th from 8:30-10:30 at the new 4-H building at the fairgrounds.

There will also be an open house on Sun. March 25th from 1-5pm, if anyone would like to get a sneak peek at the new 4-H Exhibition building. Everyone made Easter baskets for the craft project. After the projects were done, they delivered baked goods for "4-H Bake and Take Days" for one of our community service projects. The kids bake something and then delivered the goodies to people in the Murdock community. They had a beautiful day for walking around Murdock!

The kids who participated in the activities were Matt Griffin, Josh Bogatz, Anna & Katie Bornemeier, Tara Bornemeier, Allison, Anthony & Austin Glantz, Morgan, Maddie & Lindsey Mills, Katie & Christine Schmitt. Adults, Karen Bogatz, Kim Griffin, Thea Bornemeier, Brenda Bornemeier, Linda Glantz, Cindy Schmitt and Diane Mills.

Pictured is everyone delivering goodies to Mr. Michael Hanson.

Pictured Matt Griffin and Josh Bogatz figure out how to make their basket.

The next meeting is on April 22nd, 1pm, at Karen Bogatz.
They are going to make cement stepping stones as their next project. Everyone needs to bring their own supplies.
All these projects can be entered at the county fair in August. Anyone is free to join us. If you have any questions, please contact Kim at 867-2106.

Don’t forget to attend the E-M football fundraising Fish Fry this Friday, (say that five times fast J) March 23, 2007 from 5:00-8:00 p.m.! Cost is $6.00 per ticket.

Baseball fundraiser a SUCCESS!
Jean Baumeister said, “It went really well! We had a nice turnout. This community is so supportive of our children. The waffles were good as always. Lots of parent and children volunteers made it run smoothly. We will be making this an annual event the third Sunday in March.”
Thanks to all who contributed!

Murdock Volunteer Fire Department Open House/Pancake Breakfast
The Open House will be held at the New Fire Barn on Sunday, March 25, 2007 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. All you can eat pancakes, sausage, eggs, juice & coffee will be served. A free will offering will be taken at the door. Raffle drawing will be held at 2:00 pm and door prizes will be drawn every half hour. Be there or be square!

VANDALISM AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Sometime prior to March 7, 2007, a bus windshield and four bus windows were shot with what appeared to be a BB or pellet gun. This was a spare bus that was parked by the bus barn, which is located west of the elementary school. Please contact the Elementary Principal, Bruce Friedrich, or the Cass County Sheriff’s Office if you have any information regarding this incident.

Robert Frost was one of the best twentieth century poets. Here is a copy of his poem: The Road Not Taken. Happy Birthday Mr. Frost!

Robert Frost
(1874 - 1963)

The Road Not Taken
by: Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by
And that has made all the difference.
