Inspiration
In Memory of Angie Fries
It’s times like these that I become without words. There’s nothing I can say that will make it better and nothing I can do to fix it. We will all miss Angie so very much. I’m SO… glad God had her touch our lives even when it feels like it was way too short. She never ceased to amaze me of her joy and happiness and laughter; her positive attitude and outlook on life even when she faced things that most of us will never have to deal with. We are all so very blessed to have known her. I will treasure each and every memory of her smiling face.
To the Fries Family, Please know our thoughts and our prayers are with you. We are so sorry for your loss. I know that I speak for the entire Elmwood-Murdock Community when I say, “Let us help carry your load. We love you very much!”

Happy Easter
The Junior High Quiz Bowl Team
The 7th and 8th grade Quiz Bowl teams traveled to Cook on Wednesday, March 12 to compete in the ECNC Jr. High Quiz Bowl Tournament. This is double elimination tournament in which the first three teams receive Conference plaques. Both the seventh and eighth grade teams started out strong with wins over Johnson Country Central and Mead. The seventh graders suffered their first loss to Palmyra and then were knocked of the tournament with a tough loss to East Butler.
The eighth grade defeated Palmyra to play in the semi-finals against Weeping Water. The match against Weeping Water was a close one, the eighth grade lost by 15 points. They went on to take third place in a loss against Yutan.

What’s Happening Around Our Community
I had to laugh at this one from Louisville because we TOO have sprouts. Ours are in our dining room though J

Out
of the Freezer - Finally
We
have sprouts in the laundry room!!
About the last
week of February every year the little peat pods come out. They look like fat
brown poker chips until you pour a little water on them, and bam,
they expand into short little brown pods of peat, just perfect for your pepper
or tomato seeds. You select seeds from the catalog, order, wait, plant, label,
water, wait, hope, peek, pray put your electric blanket underneath to keep
those precious sprouts toasty, and then when the shelves at Earl May are full
of plants you pitch these spindly anemic looking sprout pods into the compost
bin and buy a trailer full of the good stuff.
This is the same
every year, kinda like salmon swiming up stream or something - (good
news for grizzlies)
This is a defense
mechanism of some kind. Some form of denial that makes you believe that it is
almost gardening time, when you have nothing going but ice, more ice and snow.
Well,
the good news is we have officially turned the corner, on one of the coldest
crummy winters in a long time, and now it is time to get out there and DO
something!!
That
Means Mud
Whatever
the activity is this weekend,
I am
pretty sure it is gonna involve
slogging
through mud of some kind.
Hey,
I got a new Leaf Blower for Christmas!!

Helpful Hint
Attention: Retired people will receive the economic stimulus checks this summer ONLY if they file a tax return. Anyone who has only social security and a small pension don’t normally have to file tax returns. BUT – if they do, enter their social security amount and any other income and just show $0.00 due, they will receive checks this summer. If you have access to www.IRS.gov you can print off 1040A forms – Social Security received goes on the left to line # 14A taxable portion on 14b should be $0.00. Thanks to Susan Peplow and the Springfield website for this important information.
