URGENT PLEA FROM LOUISVILLE FOR ARTISTS!
Up coming and Established, Young and Old Artists are invited to design and paint streetlight pole banners for display on Main Street in Louisville, May 17th through September 8th. An auction is planned for the banners after the display ends.
SO That Means an Opportunity for Fame AND Riches!
Opportunities like this don't come every day, so call that Local Artist Today!
and give them a nudge!
Area artists are invited to participate in Air Your Art in Louisville,
a public banner art display event, sponsored by BUILD (Businesses
United In Louisville's Development) and Louisville businesses.
Artists are being asked to design and paint streetlight pole banners,
incorporating the theme, “150 Years and Still Making Tracks.” The
painted banners will then be displayed on Main Street in Louisville,
May 17th through September 8th.
Interested artists should submit an entry form and design sketch for
approval by March 7, 2008. Artists will be notified of approval and
banners will then be distributed for painting, with the banner
completion deadline set for May 9, 2008. Only one entry per artist
will be allowed, with only twenty-three total banners available for
the display.
An auction is also being planned for the banners after the display
ends, with BUILD sharing a portion of the proceeds with the artists.
Details about the auction, including a date, will be made available at
a later time.

ELMWOOD-MURDOCK DRIVERS ED SUMMER 2008
It is time to sign up for Drivers Education classes. Space is held when payment is received. Students must turn 14 by October 15 in the year the course is offered to attend the class. Cost will be $250.00 for students who are district residents and $300.00 for students who are non-district residents. Registration is not complete until payment is received in the Murdock office. Checks will be cashed on June 1st prior to the start of class. The in-class instruction will be June 16-June 19 from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. with behind the wheel instruction to be held following the in-class instruction. Students must be able to attend all classroom activities in order to take the class. If you have any questions please call the Murdock office at 402-867-2341.
Attention Parents: The 2008 Statewide Parent Involvement Conference is taking place on Saturday, March 29th. It will run from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and be held at Papillion-La Vista South High School. The cost is $25 per participant on or prior to February 29th and $30 per participant thereafter. Topics include: Helping Your Child Be a Better Reader; Internet Safety; Use of Technology; Discipline; Television Watching; Communication; and Nutrition. BASEBALL/SOFTBALL REGISTRATION
It's baseball/softball time. The due date is February 28th so it’s not too late to sign up if you missed it. You can mail the forms, with your checks, to Jean Baumeister 35817 McKelvie Road Murdock, NE 68407. The forms to register can be downloaded from www.elm.esu3.org
If you are willing to help on a committee and haven't emailed Jean please do ASAP at dbaumeister@ellipse.net. Jean says: “We need parents to get involved and help with the program. We have a pancake breakfast fundraiser coming up soon. It will be held in the old Gym in Murdock and will need lots of help with that.” The date will be announced shortly.
JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED
We are still in need of parent volunteers to teach Junior Achievement classes in economics. We have openings in both Kindergarten rooms and for Mrs. Bacon’s Third Grade. Please contact Mr. Friedrich if you are interested in teaching or would like more information about the program.
