The Cass County Commissioners have scheduled their next regular meeting at the gym in the Elmwood school on February 20 at 7:00 PM. They have made this change, a monumental change, to accommodate the work schedules of their electorate and allow their electorate input into our county government process. Past meetings scheduled for this purpose have resulted in minimal attendance. If we feel our needs and interests, particularly infrastructure, are a valid concern in our county, our attendance at this meeting is absolutely imperative! Please attend this meeting, encourage your friends and neighbors to attend, and forward this to everyone who has an interest in the future of Cass County.

Inspirational Tidbits
Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional. There is no key to happiness. The door is always open. Silence is often misinterpreted, but never misquoted. Do the math. Count your blessings. Faith is the ability to not panic. Laugh every day, it's like inner jogging. If you worry, you didn't pray. If you pray, don't worry. The most important things in your home are the people. When we get tangled up in our problems, be still. God wants us to be still so He can untangle the knot. He who dies with the most toys is still dead.
The third annual Chili Feed Dinner Fundraising Concert was held Saturday, Feb. 17. A great crowd turned out to enjoy soup, sandwich, dessert, and drink. Five different bands played throughout the night. The event kicked off with the 5th Grade Band followed by the 6th Grade Band, and then the Junior High Concert Band. The Jazz Band then played four pieces including ‘Go Tell it on the Mountain’. The night concluded with the High School Concert Band. The evening was a great success and was enjoyed by all who attended.
The goal of the fundraiser is to replenish the band account for the students to be able to participate in a band tour every four years. It also helps pay for the trip to World’s of Fun Band Festival. Some of the money will be used to buy new uniforms. The goal is to purchase them in 2009.

Mr. Hansen did a wonderful job directing each band.
It takes a lot of time and energy to prepare 24 pieces for five different bands.
The Elmwood-Murdock Lady Knights 7th grade team defeated the Ashland-Greenwood ‘B’ team by a score of 31-12 on Thursday, February 15. The girls came out and played very well early to get a 13-0 1st quarter lead. They played very aggressive basketball which lead to a number of steals and converted them to lay-ups. They continued to play well in the other quarters, but did give up a few offensive rebounds and also were out of position on defense which allowed Ashland-Greenwood to penetrate their defense with the dribble. They shot very well from the floor, which was good to see as they have been focusing on that during practice the last two weeks.

The Elmwood-Murdock Lady Knights 8th grade team defeated the Ashland-Greenwood ‘A’ team by a score of 29-26 on Thursday, February 15. The Lady Knights got behind early by a score of 8-2, but battled back in the 2nd quarter to take a 15-12 lead at half-time. They didn’t allow Ashland-Greenwood to score in the 2nd quarter and really did a great job of rebounding on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. They continued to play very aggressive in the second half to build the lead to 8 points and held on for the 3 point victory. There were some great efforts from a lot of girls, as many girls were out due to illness and injury. It was a great team effort for the 8th grade girls.
