Benefit for Shannon & Angie Fries Family

Angie FriesThe Fries Family, including Shannon, Angie, Stephanie, Nathan, & Cody, joined the Murdock community in 1994. During their residence here, they have helped the community & have been actively involved in it’s betterment consistently.

Shannon & Angie’s heart has always been “to help”. They have been leaders in our community from the beginning. It is obvious by many of the activities they have participated in and the positions they’ve held. Shannon has been on the Murdock Town Board. He has been the director of the Murdock Emergency Management team. He has also been a Murdock responder for the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for the Ashland Rescue Squad. He’s held a position on the Rural Fireboard for Murdock and was actively involved in the legality of the construction of building the new Murdock fire barn. Shannon was active in coaching the Murdock girls softball teams and was one of the starters of the Elmwood-Murdock Little League Football. He also coached the football team since it’s first season the fall of 1998.

Angie said, “He’s wanted to help people from the get go. Even when we were dating over 20 years ago he was late for a date with me because he stopped to help a lady change a flat tire on his way to my house for dinner. Needless to say I burned the dinner. He just loves to help people.”

The Fries family has enhanced the Murdock Annual Fourth of July Parade many years by playing in the softball tournament, serving watermelon, & being in the parade line up. Angie’s irremovable smile & dependable positive attitude are worth more than any days work could ever pay. They say that life is 10% what happens to you & 90% attitude.

Let us return the love. Let us return the support to them. Let it be our time to help. Let us return the blessing by attending the benefit to rally around their family & help them have victory during this particular time. Their motive of giving has never been to get back in return. But let us, this farm town community, show them the law of sowing & reaping. Let us provide a harvest of blessing to their family so large that they can hardly contain it!

Predicted 6-8 inch snowstorm misses Murdock. Talk of “the big storm coming” was heard repeatedly at the Elmwood-Murdock basketball game last Friday night. Fridged temperatures turned their faces bright red as they came into the school. Nearly all who entered commented about “how cold it is out there!”. School children eagerly anticipated the big snowfall. The few inches we received caused many to be disappointed that their expected Monday snow day turned into a two-hour late start. Maybe next time!

The Murdock Moderns Community Club met Jan. 11, 2007 at the home of Shirley Bornemeier. Seven members, one guest and new member, Sarah Velder were present. Andy Stock, Murdock, gave a very interesting presentation on his LEAD program trip to Russia, Ukraine, and Poland. The next meeting will be a trip to Mahoney State Park, Feb. 9, for dinner and the play, “Nobody's Perfect“ submitted by president Debbie Gilbert. For more information, please e-mail Debbie Gilbert bigdebs@hotmail.com

Words of Wisdom-Two Wolves
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside us all.
One is Evil-It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is Good-It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility,
kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather:
"Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Valentine’s Day Tidbits:
"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."(Terri - age 4)
"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK."(Danny - age 7)
